Here are some things you should consider before hiring the best personal trainers near you:
You need to understand that you may have to communicate with the hired personal trainers on a regular basis. You need someone who has good communication skills to exchange ideas. Look for a friendly and approachable personal trainer to help you achieve your fitness goals.
Check the experience of the personal trainer when you need to hire one. A trainer with at least 3-4 years of experience can be the right choice. Do not hesitate to ask the professionals about how much experience they have in the field. You can also ask how many clients have they catered to since the last 6 months.
Discuss all medical conditions
If you have any special needs or health issues, make sure that you discuss with the trainer you’re planning to hire. Mention any chronic problems you may have so that it becomes easier for the professional to plan your exercises.
Don’t be fooled by a big name
Sometimes, you may be carried away by big names when it comes to hiring a personal trainer. A big name does not guarantee results. Remember that you need personal attention from the fitness trainer and so, check the credentials and make a wise decision.
Ask about their credentials
Sometimes, we feel awkward to ask the professionals about their credentials. There is no harm in asking the fitness trainers about their experience, certification, educational qualification, types of clients they have, and other things. Avoid hiring someone who is hesitant to answer your questions.
Does their schedule match with yours?
Consistency is of utmost importance when it comes to hiring a personal trainer. Make sure that your schedule matches with that of the professional. Ask their availability and see if you can make it during that time on a regular basis.
It is important to hire a personal trainer within your budget. It can be a good idea to look for someone who fits in your budget. You can collect quotes from a few local personal trainers and hire the best one that matches your exact requirements and budget.
No matter what your fitness and health goals may be, you need to make sure that you’re in safe hands. Hire the best personal trainer near you and start improving your health.
It’s coming close to January, meaning that gyms throughout the UK are about to get busy. While we’re a small private Personal Trainer Balham, you may have chosen the gym membership option to help you achieve your fitness goals. Here are 6 tips to help you make the most of of your gym membership investment.
1. SET REALISTIC APPOINTMENTS
Unrealistic training schedules are not only counter-productive; they can ruin your confidence.
Decide in advance how often you can realistically go. It may be twice weekly, but making this decision at the outset can set you on a great path toward improved health and fitness.
Once you have decided the number of times each week you can go, what time of day suits you best? The key word is consistency. Make sure that you set a schedule that involves consistent training, but also includes your life!
2. GET AN INDUCTION
Often the value of a gym or leisure centre is assessed by how many treadmills and cardio machines are available, when it can be so much more with the right guidance.
Any gym will have trained staff on-site to help you understand how using the full facility can benefit you. To ensure this, book an induction time with a staff member to make sure you get the full range of options available to you.
3. DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT
Goals are at the heart of progress. Before you start raring up that fitness engine, make sure you know where you are going.
This is where S.M.A.R.T. goal setting comes in handy (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Reasonable, Time-Limited).
Be as specific as you can with what you want to accomplish. This will help you when you plan your sessions, and it will also be very useful when you get your gym induction.
4. MANAGE EXPECTATIONS
From past experience, by the third week of January approximately 60% of new joiners in a gym are already tapering off in their commitment to regular attendance.
Regardless of your goals, to expect to see palatable progress in the first couple of weeks is asking too much of yourself. We base our programs around 12-week increments because that’s how long it takes to see recognisable change.
You’ve made a great decision to focus on your health and fitness: allow yourself enough time to let the magic happen.
Make sure you monitor your progress. While there are many ways to measure progress, it’s important to consistently measure to make sure you are on track.
It can be as simple as setting a reminder on your phone every 21 days, and on that day you get out of bed and try on a pair of jeans that you want to fit into.
The point is you are assessing yourself based on an end objective that is important to you, not some measurement of ‘perfect weight’ or ‘desired body fat’ that may not be realistic.
6. TURN YOUR PHONE OFF (UNLESS YOU ARE USING IT SPECIFICALLY FOR YOUR WORKOUT, IN WHICH CASE PUT IT ON AIRPLANE MODE)
Treat your time at the gym as ‘you time’…this is time that must be protected to preserve your sanity.
While you may be getting used to the gym, you will enjoy the results when you focus on the effort to get there. So no annoying phone calls, no distracting texts. Just keep focused and concentrate on yourself.
Whether an hour, 30 minutes, or however long the workout is, by concentrating on you, your time is automatically better spent.
Best whey protein with water is an essential and best source of protein for every athlete, power lifter and bodybuilder. It has many functions in the body and above all it can boost immunity and help get lesser infections.
Whey has a high biological value and gets easily absorbed from the stomach and instantly feeds the muscles that have been exhausted in the gym after weight training or cardio sessions. Many people think that best whey protein with water is for people who do gym workouts and pick weights and not for those who run and do weight less exercises but it’s a complete myth. It is equally rather more important for the athletes who do marathons and run 10 miles every day or for the men who do cardio sessions more frequently than weight loss for losing weight.
It’s a myth that whey is meant for a particular age group or class of individuals. Best whey protein with waters can be used by anyone even by pregnant women looking for better nutrition, lower body fat percentage and great health.
Best whey protein with water works by maintaining a positive nitrogen balance in the body.
How does this all works?
When one picks up weights in the gym, there is microtrauma to the muscles and the fibers get tear off. In order to repair the muscles tissue and induce growth, the amino acids are necessary. Amino acids are end products of protein metabolism. Best whey protein with water got highest absorption rate when taken in water alone whereas it gets slower in milk. Speedy protein absorption of best whey protein with water will provide amino acids to the muscles instantly and helps in recovery. Whereas, if there are less amino acids in the blood, there will more catabolism and muscle loss.
BCAAs is the most important amino acids necessary for muscle growth. BCAAs have many other functions as well in the body and keep the body functioning normal. 100% best whey protein with waters has higher BCAAs than weight protein concentrate.
Results of best whey protein with water depend on kind of best whey protein with water you are ingesting. Hydrolyzed whey is far superior to best whey protein with water concentrate; 100% best whey protein with waters are better than best whey protein with water concentrate which have just 80% protein rest is all carbohydrates or lactose sugars. Best whey protein with water blends or mixtures of 2 or more types of whey have slower absorption, hence not ideal after workouts though these can be taken at other times of the day.
Whey in skimmed milk has better absorption than whey in full fat milk. Whey in water has better absorption than whey in skimmed milk. Hence, the work of best whey protein with water depends upon the absorption rate and type of whey being used. 100% best whey protein with waters is most suitable and cost effective of all the types of best whey protein with waters.
No Fish Oil, No Protein Powder, No Multi’s? Get Off the Denial Bandwagon!
Our bodies need a lot of nutrients to function properly and eating a diet in Western society with all our processed foods, nutrient-depleted soil and busy schedules makes it really tough and expensive to get what we need from what we eat.
Think about it. Are you eating two to three servings of fresh wild fish, high in omega 3s, each week? Are you eating tons of raw leafy greens, broccoli and other fresh fruit and veggies of multiple colors? How about lean protein with every meal? Grains? Legumes? Unprocessed carbs?
If you’re reading this, you probably do care about what you put into your body and probably are getting some of the essentials. But it’s pretty tough to do it perfectly. (And eating perfectly all the time can cause stress too, which wreaks more havoc on your body!)
Whey protein Water
That’s where supplements come in — to help you treat your body the way you want so you can think clearly, live a vital life and keep a lean, attractive body at your ideal weight.
Figuring out what types of supplements you need can seem daunting as well, so to make it simple, we’ve broken it down into four supplements. Take these weekly for a well-rounded balance:
1.Fish oil supplements.
Your body needs the omega 3s found in fish oil to function. When you don’t get enough, like in most Western diets, your body and brain mechanisms start to break down and you have a higher risk for numerous problems, like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, mental disorders and poor vision, to name a few. Wild fish is great but is often high in mercury and other contaminants so you can only eat so much. Fish oil supplements have become the proven answer for many health-conscience individuals.
The degradation of our soil, air and water supply makes it impossible for us to get all the nutrients we need from food alone making it essential for us to supplement with certain essential vitamins and minerals. This means taking a high-quality multi-vitamin/mineral plus additional disease-fighting antioxidants, the most important of which are Vitamin A, Vitamin E and Vitamin C.
3.Whey protein powder shakes.
Our bodies need lean protein with every meal (plus fatty oils like fish oil) so that they can metabolize carbs for food. Protein is also essential for building and maintaining muscles, organs, hormones, hemoglobin and antibodies. Whey protein Drinks offer an easy, quick source of protein (one of the most easily absorbed sources of protein there is) for those who don’t always have the time to cook. Also, whey shakes give your diet some tasty variety.
Eating fresh, organic greens is not always so easy for those on the go, but it’s critical to our health. Plus sometimes you just don’t want another salad or broccoli floret. Green drinks offer an easy, tasty alternative. The green vegetables, spirulina, barley greens, wheatgrass, green tea extract, and other concentrated green superfoods in green drinks contain high quantities of antioxidants and phyto-nutrients and help purify the blood, aid digestion and elimination, enhance the immune system and boost your energy.
Prior to the last few years, conventional medicine failed to consider leaky gut as a potential origin of any health conditions. That has changed. Now, even conventional medicine is at least beginning to understand how important your gut is to your overall health.
Part of the reason for this change has to do with the discovery that up to 80% of your immune system resides in your gut. Another reason is due to an increasing understanding of the importance of nutrition in your overall health.
Even recently researchers and clinicians are still making big discoveries about how much your gut and your brain communicate. Now, there is clear evidence that your brain and gut communicate directly.
More researchers and healthcare professionals are becoming aware of the importance of the barriers in both the gut and the brain. In the gut, this barrier is made of endothelial cells that serve to keep everything where it belongs, from food particles and waste to toxins and organisms that can harm you. This is in the intestine where it can be expelled from the body.
However, when a leaky gut allows these particles and organisms to escape into other parts of the body, problems proliferate.
What is Leaky Gut?
Leaky gut is a condition that occurs when the endothelial cells lining the intestine develop loose junctions or spaces between them. Ordinarily, the junctions are tight, allowing only nutrients to pass through.
Unfortunately, under certain conditions the junctions become loose, allowing partially digested food particles and toxins to pass through into the bloodstream. These molecules are larger than the nutrients normally passing through the gut barrier.
When these other molecules pass through leaky gut walls into the bloodstream, the immune system recognizes them as foreign particles invading the body. This activates the immune system to fight the invasion. One result is increasing inflammation that can spread throughout the body.
Causes of Leaky Gut
There are numerous factors that can lead to a weakening of the gut lining. Among them are poor nutrition, increased inflammation in the gut, low levels of good bacteria in the gut, infections, and parasites in the gut.
Some medications, especially if they’re overused, can also injure the intestinal lining. Ibuprofen, aspirin, and other NSAIDs are especially problematic. Antibiotics can also be implicated in leaky gut. Antibiotics not only kill the bacteria that are causing illness, but also the bacteria that work in your gut to properly digest food. And since antibiotics are among the most overused medications in the U.S., this means more and more people are dealing with a shortage of good bacteria in their gut.
Leaky Gut Can Lead to Other Conditions
Many researchers and clinicians believe there are a number of health conditions that can arise from a leaky gut. Among these conditions are:
Inflammatory bowel conditions, including irritable bowel and ulcerative colitis
Food allergies or sensitivities
Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s
Children’s health conditions such as autism
Greater risk of developing diabetes
Eczema and psoriasis
Testing for Leaky Gut
With the possibility of so many illnesses resulting from leaky gut, it becomes very important to measure it accurately. This can give healthcare professionals the information they need to be able to address the issue adequately.
The traditional method of assessing the presence of leaky gut is to measure the level of zonulin in the blood. Zonulin is a protein that controls how large the openings between the lining of the gut and the bloodstream become. If your gut is healthy, the openings will be small, just large enough for the transport of nutrients. But if the levels of zonulin get too high, these openings enlarge.
If the high zonulin levels remain, even more, damage to the microvilli in the gut can occur. This can lead to problems in absorbing nutrients.
Some of the triggers that lead to an increase in zonulin include candida yeast, gluten, parasites, and harmful bacteria.
However, there have been problems with measuring zonulin as a way to assess the presence of leaky gut. While the use of topical or oral steroids will not cause false negatives, consuming corticosteroids may lead to false positives because zonulin levels can increase in the presence of these steroids. In those who are obese or have glucose intolerance, false positives for leaky gut may be found. Recent research has shown zonulin is no longer present in the bloodstream after one or two hours, leading to decreased reliability of this test.
Even though zonulin testing has been the traditional method of assessing leaky gut, it isn’t the most recommended method currently. More accurate measurements can be achieved by testing for antibodies to IgA or IgG.
IgA antibodies are the most produced daily in the bloodstream. These antibodies form when the lining of the gut has been compromised, allowing undigested food particles to enter your bloodstream.
Testing for the presence of these antibodies in the blood is a more accurate way to determine whether leaky gut is present.
This is another one of the antibodies that can be measured when testing for the presence of leaky gut. Once again, as with IgA, this antibody is produced in response to undigested food particles crossing the lining of the gut.
When the permeability of the gut is increased and these particles and toxins get into your bloodstream, more of these antibodies are produced by the immune system to fight against what it considers invaders in your system.
When the gut allows these particles to pass through, the immune system becomes more sensitized to foods it might have tolerated previously. Gluten and dairy products are among the most likely foods may become intolerant of.
Some of these sensitivities are subtle and may not be recognized, leading to a low-grade inflammatory state. If this state continues, it may lead to more damage and more inflammation. The increased inflammation can then lead to several chronic health conditions over time.
These tests are an important way to measure levels of good bacteria in your gut, to determine whether inflammation markers are present, to get an idea of your overall gut health, and as a way of measuring intestinal immune functioning. Probiotic levels and the presence of microbes, both good and bad, are also seen in stool tests. The presence of pathogens like yeast, unhealthy bacteria, or parasites can also be detected with these tests. These microorganisms can lead to neurological dysfunction, leaky gut, and chronic conditions.
Organic Acid Vitamin and Minerals Test
When the leaky gut is present, you have difficulty absorbing nutrients, leading to vitamin and mineral deficiencies. This happens because the microvilli in the gut are damaged and not able to assist with the absorption of nutrients.
When these microvilli don’t work correctly, some large molecules like gluten are allowed to pass through the gut lining and smaller molecules that should pass through are blocked. The lack of absorption of nutrients also prevents the detox of antigens produced by the immune system in the face of increasing inflammation.
This test will measure not only deficiencies in vitamins and minerals but also deficiencies in amino acids that can result when microvilli are damaged. Levels of antioxidants and bacteria, along with information about how your body metabolizes fats, proteins, and carbohydrates are also obtained with this test.
When high levels of organic acids are detected, it signals possible toxic buildup, yeast growth, or nutrient deficiency.
Lactulose and Mannitol
This test measures how much these two sugars permeate the gut lining. Mannitol is a small molecule and typically easily absorbed. Lactulose is larger and not as easily absorbed. The sugars are taken beforehand and your urine is then measured to see the absorption of these molecules. Depending on the levels found in your urine, this will indicate how permeable your gut is.
There are some potential problems with this test. One possibility is that it may increase symptoms associated with Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) as the sugars help to feed the bacteria.
Another problem with this test is that it can’t analyze the passage of large antigenic molecules. These molecules can cross the epithelial barrier and trigger the immune response. While it does measure small sugar molecules, these molecules don’t trigger the immune system.
Measuring lactulose doesn’t give you any information about whether food particles cross the epithelial barrier. The lactulose molecules are too small.
Testing for the presence of these endotoxins has been suggested as a way to measure the presence of leaky gut. LPS are large molecules found in gram-negative bacteria. One of the results of having LPS is the release of proinflammatory cytokines. Testing positive for antibodies to these endotoxins shows infiltration of the macromolecules through the lining of the intestines into the bloodstream.
The use of a Large Molecule Intestinal Permeability Identification (LMIPI) lets researchers and clinicians assess the presence of large molecules as big as food particles. These molecules will trigger an immune response if they pass through the intestinal lining.
One of the benefits of testing for LPS is easily identifying the level and cause of leaky gut. Another benefit is the ability of the LMIPI to find large molecules that may be present. Analyzing the LMIPI results also gives a better idea of any dysregulation of the intestinal immune system.
However, there are drawbacks to this testing. One significant drawback is that LPS has a half-life in the blood of only two to four minutes. Unless there are very large amounts of LPS antibodies in the blood, it would be difficult to detect their presence. Steroids also negatively affect the assessment of these antibodies. You would have to be completely off steroids for up to 60 days prior to testing. In addition, current lab values are based on adults only. This significantly limits the usefulness of this test for children and young adolescents.
This is one of the larger components of the proteins that maintain the tight junctions between the epithelial cells in the lining of the intestine. If there are antibodies against occludin found on testing, it would indicate that a leaky gut has caused the breakdown of these tight junctions.
The same test, LMIPI, is used to detect antibodies for occludin.
This is a protein complex that helps keep the tight junctions between epithelial cells in the intestinal lining flexible. If there are antibodies to this protein found on testing, it indicates dysregulation of this intestinal lining by cell infiltration.
The LMIPI test is the one used to detect these antibodies.

The human beings who are prone to daily physical injuries the most are athletes. This is because of the stress, pressure and strain they put on their bodies on a daily basis due to intense and strenuous physical activities. Their daily training requires weight training, cardio, muscular development as well as flex training exercises. All of these put intense pressure on an athlete’s body. This can result in asymmetries which can result in improper lateral movement and cause even more injuries. A Functional Movement Screen or FMS, is a system used to analyze these kind of asymmetries in the human body so that improvements in stability and movement can be made.
Movement patterns and Functional Movement Screen
There are a total of seven patterns of movement which are used in the system. Deep squats, in-line lunges, the trunk stability push up, shoulder mobility, hurdle steps, straight leg raises, and rotary stability. The lowest score one can achieve is 3. And the highest is 21. All these movements are given points which can add up to a total of 21. These are used to guide athletes to reduce injuries. The Functional Movement Screen Exercisessystem is not just used by athletes, active professionals who require physical activity, collegiate athletes, professional athletes, as well as military personnel can benefit from this. The goal of an individual should be to get as high a score as possible. The cut off score is 14 points. Anything lower than this means that the individual is at greater risk to sustain injuries during whatever physical activity they pursue
Where to get guidance for Functional Movement Screen
There are various guides available throughout the internet to get help on the Functional Movement Screen system. One such resource is the strength and conditioning review. This is a guidance system which uses the latest sports sciences and research available to help people in developing them in the athletics, physique, as well as biomechanics improvement. They have also done thorough research on the FMS system as well. The main components used here are the literature available on a person’s previous in juries, Y-Balance test scores (based on the gender, kind of sport and the level of competition), Y-Balance Asymmetry, Functional Movement Screen Instructions score, FMS Asymmetry, and the level of pain with testing. Despite all the literature available online for FMS and other systems available for sports and physical analysis, the coaches, doctors, trainers and physical fitness experts are the best way to get guidance. This is because they will know in detail what kind of activity a person does and what is required in the future. Consult first, and then move forward.
